TREATMENTS FOR AVOIDING BACTERIAL PLAQUEDaily hygiene habits combined with visits to the dentist every six months
What is bacterial plaque?
· Bacterial plaque is basically formed by minute traces of food and bacteria left on the teeth. It can be removed easily with a toothbrush, although in hard-to-reach areas the plaque accumulates and turns into what is known as ‘tartar’.
· Tartar is formed of bacteria and once hardened it is impossible to eliminate with a toothbrush. These bacteria can cause gingivitis, a disease that if not correctly treated can become an irreversible problem.
How can tartar and gingivitis be avoided?
· By brushing your teeth and using an antiseptic mouthwash after every meal. It is also important to complete these daily habits with dental check-ups every six months.
